A TRUE LEADER BY EXAMPLE, DALY CHERRY-EVANS BURST ONTO THE PROFESSIONAL RUGBY LEAGUE SCENE FOR THE MANLY SEA EAGLES IN 2011 BY STEERING THEM TO PREMIERSHIP SUCCESS IN HIS ROOKIE YEAR.
With a lethal kicking game, laser like vision and a running game that has defences on high alert, Cherry-Evans sits at the very top of the game as a world class halfback and one of the game’s most recognisable faces.
Having played his junior footy at both Redcliffe and Mackay in Queensland, Cherry-Evans decorated playing career has yielded premiership success, a Clive Churchill Medal as best player in the grand final from the losing team in 2013 and excelled in the fiercest arena in rugby league – State of Origin, where he has captained the Maroons in two famous underdog series victories, in 2020 and 2022.
Given the nod to captain his beloved Sea Eagles in 2017, he rose to the occasion winning the clubs Best and Fairest award and has gone on to become a model of consistency with his poise and calmness under pressure proving the difference in countless clutch victories at the elite level.
All up the 33-year-old has played more than 280 games for the Sea Eagles – fourth all-time on the clubs record list, over 18 Tests for the Kangaroos and represented the Maroons on 19 occasions.
He capped off the 2022 season with selection in the Australian Kangaroos World Cup Squad as vice-captain, with the tournament currently being played in the United Kingdom.
Residing on Sydney’s Northern Beaches with his partner Vessa and his three daughters, Navi, 8, Harvie, 6 and Tully, 3, he is a proud family man that enjoys fitness and the outdoors.
Cherry-Evans is an asset to any team he joins and prides himself on his work ethic, mental strength and focus to get the job done no matter the circumstance.
