JAMES TEDESCO IS THE PLAYER OF A GENERATION, HAVING SCALED EVERY SUMMIT THERE IS IN RUGBY LEAGUE ACROSS A DECORATED CAREER WHERE HE HAS RISEN TO BECOME CAPTAIN OF AUSTRALIA, NEW SOUTH WALES AND THE SYDNEY ROOSTERS.
The epitome of leading by example, there is no more dependable player in the game. Tedesco’s dazzling style of play, durability, and courage on the field, mixed with his humble and understated nature, have set him apart from the rest.
From the small town of Menangle on the outskirts of Sydney’s southwest with a father of Italian descent, Tedesco was raised on a small property with its own goalposts for him to hone his craft while playing junior footy for the Camden Rams.
After setting his sights on living his dream to become an NRL player in a note that he wrote to himself, renowned rugby league nursery - St Gregory’s College, Campbelltown beckoned.
His hard work and dedication in high school paid off with Australian Schoolboys selection and a place in the Wests Tigers junior development system as his confidence continued to grow.
His dream NRL debut came in 2012 for the Wests Tigers, but it quickly turned into a nightmare and the first of numerous injury setbacks, when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, ruling him out for the entire season and reducing him to tears in the Leichhardt Oval sheds.
A fractured leg and patella in the following seasons presented obstacles presented major physical and mental challenges to overcome as he showed glimpses of his talents as a dynamic fullback, before breaking through for State of Origin selection in 2016.
In 2018 a highly publicised transfer to the Sydney Roosters laid the path to glory, claiming an NRL premiership victory and being awarded both the Brad Fittler Medal as NSW’s best Origin player and the Jack Gibson Medal as the Roosters player of the season.
With a stacked Roosters outfit in their 2019 back-to-back premiership victory, Tedesco’s star shone brightest. After scoring a famous last second try to win the Origin series for NSW, he claimed the Wally Lewis Medal as player of the series before winning the Dally M Medal as the NRL’s best player.
At the end of the 2022 season, Tedesco remains one of the best players in the game and is currently leading the Australian Kangaroos at the 2022 Rugby League World Cup.
He has a degree in Exercise Health and Science and recently became engaged to his fiancée Maria. He enjoys family time, watching American Football and has written a successful kids book series to encourage school kids to follow their dreams.
Tedesco is one of the most respected athletes in the country and brings credibility, profile and true leadership to any team he joins.
